I think it's the device to the right of R1-on the right side of the schematic. If this is like other Russian stuff, it's a Piezo disc. It certainly sounds like

Cold Galv spray is zinc, it has a high solids content. I know zinc readily oxidises producing a stable protective layer. Dunno if the oxide conducts though.
