The interim National Agroforestry Education Committee (NAFEC) for Indonesia met in Bogor on 15 January. The Committee decided to formalize the Indonesian Network for Agroforestry Education (INAFE) during 2002.

A national Network Secretariat will be responsible for the administration of the network, and will be responsible for liaison with the Regional level of SEANAFE.

The Secretariat will rotate with the Chair of the NAFEC. Currently, INAFE secretariat locates at the Rectorate Building, Institut Pertanian Bogor (Bogor Agriculture University). Dr Ma'mun Sarma was appointed as the INAFE chair in his capacity as SEANAFE Board member for Indonesia.

Indonesia has a large number of universities teaching agroforestry and related programmes. Among these, twenty two member universities were invited to join this Network.
