OrCAD is a great circuit design tool. However, there are so many chips out there that OrCAD can't provide libraries for all of them. This group is set up primarily to exchange custom-drawn OrCAD libraries, and all other kinds of knowledge about OrCAD.
On JOINING this group. PLEASE READ. Your membership will be approved soon - I usually check the group several times day. However, I need to distinguish a new member from a spammer (who is, probably, fairly ignorant about the PCB design), so in your message please put more then just "-", "hello" or "can i join?".
On MESSAGES. All OrCAD-, PSpice-, PCB- and EE-related questions and messages are welcome (except for advertisements). Requests for symbols, footprints, libraries, etc. are welcome too.
On UPLOADING and DOWNLOADING libraries. First of all I need to say that this is an unofficial group, and it is your own responsibility to make sure that the libraries, which you are downloading, are correct. So please check the components you are downloading against the datasheets… Then use them at your own risk. If you find any problems in the libraries, please post a message and let everybody know. And if you upload your own custom libraries - we salut you!.
On LINKS. Before I have started using OrCAD, I thought that it’s such a mature product, that the majority of the IC manufacturers would provide libraries for their products. Unfortunately, the situation is not quite as good. There is a handful of IC manufacturers, who do it (most notably - Analog Devices, who provides libraries for
all of their ICs). The references to their download sites are in the "links" section of this group.
The question before the house: which vendors
do provide libraries for their products?
