This list was established to facilitate communication between local mushroom hunters in Sonoma County, CA. It can alert everyone to the time of fruiting, current events and HOT tips. Our mushroom club members (and friends) can stay informed and share mycological ideas. SOMA is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) educational society for recreational mushroom hunters and does NOT support the commercial sale of wild mushrooms.
The Sonoma County Mycological Association (SOMA) meets on the third Thursday of the month Sept. to May at the Sonoma County Farm Bureau, 970 Piner Rd., Santa Rosa, CA.
Mushrooms are displayed at 7 PM and the speaker/slide show starts at 7:30.
Educational Program Speakers each month (Sept to May).
SOMA forays are usually held each month on the Saturday following the meeting.
-Foray locations vary based on mushroom availability.
-Families are welcome.
-Impromptu pot lucks and mushroom cook ups occasionally occur following the walk.
-SOMA Annual household memberships with monthly newsletter - $25/year.
-Hospital/Veterinary poisoning: mushroom identification FREE of charge.
-Annual wild mushroom pot luck dinner.
-Annual 3-day wild mushroom FUNgal CAMP in Occidental, CA.
-Educational Scholarships available: K-12 and College.
