> SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
> 3rd Workshop on Heuristics for Domain-independent Planning,
>ICAPS 2011
> Freiburg, Germany
> June 12th or 13th, 2011
> http://icaps11.icaps-conference.org/workshops/hdip.html
>
>
>Motivation and Goals:
>=====================
>
>The automatic derivation of heuristic estimators to guide the search
>has become one of the main approaches in domain-independent planning.
>The approach works: very large problems, with many state variables and
>operators can be solved in this way, that could not be solved before,
>and the approach appears to scale up better than others.
>
>The workshop on heuristics for domain-independent planning so far took
>place in conjunction with ICAPS 2007 and ICAPS 2009, and was very
>successful both times. Many ideas presented at these workshops have
>led to contributions at major conferences and pushed the frontier of
>research on heuristic planning in several directions, both
>theoretically and practically. The workshops, as well as work on
>heuristic search that has been published since then, have also shown
>that there are many exciting open research opportunities in this area.
>Given the considerable success of the past workshops, we would like to
>continue holding it biennially.
>
>We look for contributions that would help us understand better the
>ideas underlying current heuristics, their limitations, and the ways
>for overcoming them. Contributions do not have to show that a new
>heuristic or new variation of a known heuristic 'beats the
>competition'. Above all we seek crisp and meaningful ideas and
>understanding. Also, rather than merely being interested in the
>'largest' problems that current heuristic search planners can solve,
>we are equally interested in the simplest problems that they can't
>actually solve well.
>
>The workshop series, while having originated mainly in classical
>planning, is very much open to new ideas on heuristic schemes for more
>general settings, such as temporal planning, planning under
>uncertainty and adversarial planning. We also explicitly wish to
>encourage submission of works, such as machine learning of heuristic
>functions, that diverge from the wide-spread approach deriving
>heuristic values by solving relaxations/abstractions of the problem at
>hand.
>
>
>Paper Formats Solicited:
>=====================
>
>We welcome technical papers as well as position statements. Papers
>mixing these two aspects are welcome, too. We particularly welcome
>descriptions of open problems, approaches that didn't turn out to
>perform as expected, or problems that existing techniques do not
>handle well -- provided in each case that there is something the
>heuristic search planning community can learn from the presented
>observation. The papers should be formatted in AAAI style, and range
>between 2 and 6 pages. See
>http://www.aaai.org/Publications/Author/author.php for
>formatting instructions. Submission will be handled via our EasyChair
>site at http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=hdip11 .
>
>As the workshop is not an archival conference, multiple submissions
>are permitted. Work that is a strict subset of that recently
>previously published in an archival journal should be presented as a
>short position statement.
>
>Papers that are currently under review in other conferences or
>journals
>must be formatted for BLIND review with NO author or affiliation
>information listed.
>
>
>Workshop Format:
>=====================
>
>The workshop is planned to be a full 1-day format, but the precise
>format is to be decided as a function of the contributions received.
>We strive to have two types of presentations: long and short (15-20
>and 5-10 minutes), and if appropriate a discussion session where the
>audience members are encouraged to participate.

An important mission of WORLDCOMP is "Providing a unique platform
for a diverse community of constituents composed of scholars,
researchers, developers, educators, and practitioners. The Congress
makes concerted effort to reach out to participants affiliated with
diverse entities (such as: universities, institutions, corporations,
government agencies, and research centers/labs) from all over the
world. The congress also attempts to connect participants from
institutions that have teaching as their main mission with those
who are affiliated with institutions that have research as their
main mission. The congress uses a quota system to achieve its
institution and geography diversity objectives."

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a spectrum of
affiliated research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into
a coordinated research meeting held in a common place at a common
time. This model facilitates communication among researchers in
different branches of computer science, computer engineering,
and applied computing. The Congress also encourages multi-disciplinary
and inter-disciplinary research initiatives; ie, facilitating
increased opportunities for cross-fertilization across sub-disciplines.

==============================================================
                                          CALL FOR PAPERS
ICAPS 2011 Workshop on Knowledge Engineering
                               for Planning and Scheduling (KEPS)

                    Freiburg, Germany, June 11-16, 2011 during ICAPS'11
                  http://icaps11.icaps-conference.org/workshops/keps.html
==============================================================

Despite the progress in automated planning and scheduling systems, these systems
still need to be fed by careful problem description and they need to be fine
tuned for particular domains or problems. Knowledge engineering for AI planning
and scheduling deals with the acquisition, design, validation and maintenance of
domain models, and the selection and optimization of appropriate machinery to
work on them. These processes impact directly on the success of real planning
and scheduling applications. The importance of knowledge engineering techniques
is clearly demonstrated by a performance gap between domain-independent planners
and planners exploiting domain dependent knowledge.

The KEPS workshop attracts audience interested in bridging the above-described
gap between real-life problems and planning and scheduling algorithms. Its
topics include domain and problem formulations, languages, knowledge acquisition
(e.g. control rules), visualization, validation and analysis of plans/domains,
problem (re)formulation etc.

We seek original papers ranging from experience reports to the description of
new technology in the following areas:

 * formulation of domains and problem descriptions
 * methods and tools for the acquisition of domain knowledge
 * pre- and post-processing techniques for planners and schedulers
 * acquisition and refinement of control knowledge
 * formal languages for domain description
 * re-use of domain knowledge
 * translators from other application-area-specific languages to solver-ready
   domain models (such as PDDL)
 * formats for specification of heuristics, parameters and control knowledge for
   solvers
 * import of domain knowledge from general ontologies
 * ontologies for describing the capabilities of planners and schedulers
 * automated reformulation of problems
 * automated knowledge extraction processes
 * domain model, problem and plan validation
 * visualization methods for domain models, search spaces and plans
 * mapping domain properties and planning techniques
 * plan representation and reuse
 * knowledge engineering aspects of plan analysis

Submission Procedure:

Two types of papers can be submitted. Full technical papers with the length up
to 8 pages are standard research papers. Short application papers with the
length up to 2 pages describe a particular system or application. The papers
will be presented at different sessions; the technical papers will have a
standard presentation format with commentary, while the application papers will
be presented in a dedicated session as a system demonstration (similar to ICKEPS
system demo or ICAPS application showcase). All papers should conform to the
AAAI style template ( http://www.aaai.org/Publications/Author/author.php). The
papers must be submitted in a PDF format via EasyChair system
( http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=keps2011). Submissions will be
reviewed by at least two referees.

Important Dates:

 * Submission deadline: Friday, March 18, 2011
 * Notification: Friday, April 15, 2011
 * Final date for camera-ready copy: TBA
 * Workshop dates: June 12th or 13th, 2011

An important mission of WORLDCOMP is "Providing a unique
platform for a diverse community of constituents composed of
scholars, researchers, developers, educators, and practitioners.
The Congress makes concerted effort to reach out to participants
affiliated with diverse entities (such as: universities,
institutions, corporations, government agencies, and research
centers/labs) from all over the world. The congress also attempts
to connect participants from institutions that have teaching as
their main mission with those who are affiliated with institutions
that have research as their main mission. The congress uses a
quota system to achieve its institution and geography diversity
objectives."

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a spectrum of
affiliated research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into
a coordinated research meeting held in a common place at a
common time. This model facilitates communication among
researchers in different fields of computer science, computer
engineering, and applied computing. The Congress also encourages
multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research initiatives;
ie, facilitating increased opportunities for cross-fertilization
across sub-disciplines.

According to "Microsoft Academic Search" (a Microsoft initiative)
all tracks of WORLDCOMP are listed as worldwide "Top-ranked
Conferences" (based on various metrics but mainly based on the
number of citations). You can access "Microsoft Academic Search" to
extract citation data for each individual track of worldcomp using
the following link: http://academic.research.microsoft.com/
As of March 4, 2011, the papers published in the proceeedings have
received 14,385 citations which is a higher citation than many
reputable journals in computer science.

An important mission of WORLDCOMP is "Providing a unique platform
for a diverse community of constituents composed of scholars,
researchers, developers, educators, and practitioners. The Congress
makes concerted effort to reach out to participants affiliated with
diverse entities (such as: universities, institutions, corporations,
government agencies, and research centers/labs) from all over the
world. The congress also attempts to connect participants from
institutions that have teaching as their main mission with those
who are affiliated with institutions that have research as their
main mission. The congress uses a quota system to achieve its
institution and geography diversity objectives."

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a spectrum of
affiliated research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into
a coordinated research meeting held in a common place at a common
time. This model facilitates communication among researchers in
different branches of computer science, computer engineering,
and applied computing. The Congress also encourages multi-disciplinary
and inter-disciplinary research initiatives; ie, facilitating
increased opportunities for cross-fertilization across sub-disciplines.

Call for Papers:
================================================
Special Issue of the Journal of Web Semantics on
"Reasoning with context in the Semantic Web"
================================================

Mechanisms for reasoning with context have become increasingly important factors in the Semantic Web. There is a growing need for general and robust reasoning techniques that make it possible to integrate heterogeneous knowledge or to use homogeneous knowledge across different domains.

Research on this topic has so far, and not surprisingly, concentrated on formal ontologies, i.e., on the logical structures that encode the semantics of a software's domain of application. Work on the Semantic Web as well as on information integration, distributed knowledge management, multi-agent and distributed reasoning has focussed on the relationship between an ontology and its context. This has aimed at clarifying how to relate knowledge that is distributed over many resources. Recent Semantic Web specific developments suggest that aspects of this relation can be captured by means of named graphs (to express meta-information), the use of provenance (to track the context where data/axioms came from) and querying (to facilitate reasoning).

Other neighbouring research areas, though, have also investigated topics that shed light on how to reason with context in the Semantic Web. Ontology Engineering and Maintenance, for instance, has tackled the problems faced by ontology engineers when developing and maintaining an ontology. The yielded automation of the process of ontology development and of its phases (e.g. knowledge elicitation, revision cycles, alignment with pre-existing ontologies etc.) has improved efficiency, reduced the introduction of unintended meanings into ontologies and in general made explicit the relationship between an ontology and its development context. Finally, research on Problem Solving and Agent Communication has explored how an agent's ontology needs to change at run-time because of interactions with its context – for instance with other agents whose ontologies are not known or with new non-classifiable world situations. This type of research has delivered a deeper understanding of the evolution of an ontology and is often based on non-monotonic reasoning, belief revision or changes of signature, i.e., of the grammar of the ontology's language, with a minimal disruption to the original theory.

* Topics of interest:

This special issue aims at bringing together work on reasoning with context in  the Semantic Web from the integration, development and evolutionary perspectives described above. Submitted articles, which may describe either theoretical results or applications, must clearly pertain to the Semantic Web and/or to semantic technologies. They should  present either Semantic Web specific approaches to reasoning with context, or approaches that have characteristics that are interesting for the Semantic Web (e.g., scalability, bounded reasoning), or approaches that are of value to a larger community containing a non-trivial Semantic Web sub-community (e.g. revision/update techniques and error pin-pointing).

Submissions are welcome on topics relevant to reasoning with context in the Semantic Web and that include but are not limited to:

- Named graphs
- Provenance
- Knowledge representation languages for semantic technologies
- Planning and reasoning about action and change in the Semantic Web
- Ontology fault diagnosis and repair

International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Security (CIS) is a major annual international conference to bring together researchers, engineers, developers and practitioners from academia and industry working in all areas of two crucial fields in information processing: computational intelligence (CI) and information security (IS), to share the experience, and exchange and cross-fertilize ideas. In particular, the series of CIS conference provides an ideal platform to explore the potential applications of CI models, algorithms and technologies to IS.

Â

Following the great success of CIS'2005-2010, the seventh conference CIS'2011 serves as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art research, development, and implementations of systems, technologies and applications in these two broad fields. CIS'2011 is co-organized by Hainan Association of Computing Machinery and Guangdong University of Technology. Also, it is co-sponsored by Xidian University and Beijing Nomal University. CIS'2011 will be held in Sanya, Hainan Province, China on December 3-4, 2011.

Prospective authors are invited to submit high-quality manuscripts written in English. The submission of a paper implies that the paper is original and has not been submitted to elsewhere for possible publication. All submissions will be blindly reviewed by experts in the field based on originality, significance, quality and clarity. Authors must not reveal any author information in the submitted paper(s), otherwise the paper(s) will be rejected immediately without going through the reviewing process. Authors should use the Latex style files or MS-Word templates provided by the CPS to format their papers. The length of a submitted paper should not exceed 5 pages in two-column format. The accepted papers will be included in the conference proceedings published by the Conference Publishing Services (CPS), and be further submitted to the indexing companies for possible indexing, including EI and ISTP. Nevertheless, all past CIS'2005-CIS'2010 proceedings have been successfully indexed in EI, and it is expected that the publication and indexing process of CIS'11 remain the same as in the past.

Â

The accepted papers will be further selected based on its originality and technical quality, and significantly expanded and included in several Special Issues of the International Journals (EI or SCI indexed).

The main topics (research interests) of the conference include but are not limited to:

Call for Papers with Extended Deadline of July 15, 2011:  Special Journal Issue
on Cognitive and Neural Aspects in Robotics with Applications 2011 (CNAR 2011),
Journal of Robotics

It would be appreciated if you could forward this call for papers to anyone who
might be interested in it.

URL:  http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jr/si/cnar11/

It is our pleasure to announce a new call for papers for the second special
issue of Journal of Robotics in year 2011.  The call for papers on cognitive
and
neural sciences related to robotic systems appeared to be a successful
challenge.

Robotics has been widely applied for various fields such as automation and other
control and engineering systems.  Recent developments of humanoid and
human-like
robots are a milestone in the field of robotics, and they can be a platform for
breaking new ground of robotics applications for human-friendly medical and
welfare systems.  Cognitive and learning aspects for such robots are, however,
still underdeveloped compared to highly controlled mechanisms of recent robotic
systems.

Similarly to the previous call of CNAR, the main challenges of this new call for
the special issue are the cognitive aspects of robotics, especially the neural
and fuzzy basis of human intelligence and the fundamental model of human
cognitive and motor functions from the brain sciences point of view.  We
welcome
papers focused on special and newest hardware and biocomputing implementations
that enhance cognitive capabilities in the field of robotics.

We invite authors to present original research articles as well as review
articles that will cross-fertilize the fields of cognitive sciences and
robotics.  Potential topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

-- Cognitive aspects of robotics
-- Neural network and fuzzy basis for robotic intelligence
-- Current applications and future prospects of cognitive sciences for robotics
-- Human–robot perceptions and interactions
-- Biocomputing for cognitive computation for robotics
-- New algorithms of computational intelligence for robotics
-- New hardware implementations of cognitive algorithms in robotics
-- Robotics for assisting physical and mental disability
-- Cognitive algorithms in robotics to support biomedical applications

Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's author
guidelines, which are located at http://www.hindawi.com/journals/jr/guidelines/

Call for Papers: DSS’2012 – 16th IFIP WG8.3 International Conference on Decision Support Systems, Anávissos, Greece, June 28-30 2012

Conference theme: “Fusing DSS into the Fabric of the Context”

June 24, 2011 -- The first call for papers has been issued for DSS 2012 in Anávissos, Greece, June 28-30, 2012. The aim of the IFIP Working Group 8.3 DSS’2012 open conference is to explore the modern perspective of the fusion view on information systems and the implications of this view for decision support systems. In this view systems should achieve a total alignment with the context and the personal preferences of users. The advantage of such a view is an opportunity of seamless integration between enterprise environment and information systems components. The conference solicits papers that describe the application of fusion principles on decision support systems research and practice. It is timely to explore the socio-technical approaches for fusing decision support, as well as opportunities and obstacles for achieving a total fusion of DSS systems in various contexts.

Submissions from academics and practitioners are invited. Papers describing real case studies will be most welcomed. All submitted manuscripts will be double blind peer-reviewed in full by at least two reviewers and members of the Program Committee. The acceptance of the contributions will be based on the originality of the work, the relevance for the conference theme and overall quality.

Suggested research topics include, but are not limited to:

Researching fusing DSS into the Fabric of the Context

New methodological approaches for DSS

DSS fusion into supply chain management

DSS fusion for on-line business management

Intelligent technologies for context-based information fusion

Mobile technologies for context-based DSS fusion

Conference Venue:
Anávissos (Anavyssos) is linked to Athens by a major motorway (GR-91). It’s also a short trip (25km) from the new airport, and 30km to Larion harbour. Mountains surround the town and a small plain is in the middle. Pine forests are in the west. Anavyssos offers a beach with a number of restaurants and bars and a spectacular view across the Saronic Gulf to the island of Aegina. The town itself is two kilometres inland from the beaches. It has a square, a school and an amusement park which is sometimes used. The town has authentic and really hospitable inhabitants and tourist-friendly atmosphere.

                          January 9-11, 2012
                       Fort Lauderdale, Florida

PAPER SUBMISSION DEADLINE: Friday, September 23, 2011

The International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics (ISAIM) is a biennial meeting that fosters interactions between mathematics, theoretical computer science, and artificial intelligence.  This is the twelfth Symposium in the series, which is sponsored by Annals of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence.  We seek submissions of recent results with a particular emphasis on the foundations of AI and mathematical methods used in AI.  Papers describing applications are also encouraged, but the focus should be on principled lessons learned from the development of the application. Traditionally, the Symposium attracts participants from a variety of disciplines, thereby providing a unique forum for scientific exchange. The three-day Symposium includes invited speakers, presentations of technical papers, and special topic sessions.

SPECIAL TOPIC INVITED SESSIONS:

o Computational Social Choice
-Organized by Judy Goldsmith, University of Kentucky

o Boolean and pseudo-Boolean Functions
-Organized by Endre Boros, Rutgers University, and Yves Crama, University of Liège

o Causal Learning from Complex Data Structures
-Organized by David Danks, Institute for Human & Machine Cognition; and Carnegie Mellon University

PAPER SUBMISSION:

Paper submission will be electronic via the submission link to ConfMaster on the Paper Submission page of the Symposium website (/www.cs.uic.edu/Isaim2012/ ).  Papers must be formatted in accordance with the guidelines given there.

The submission deadline is Friday, September 23, 2011 (11:59PM PDT). Papers will be reviewed by members of the Program Committee. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection by Friday, October 28, 2012.  Final versions of accepted papers, for inclusion in the conference electronic proceedings, are due by Monday, December 5, 2011.

Work that has already been published as of the ISAIM submission deadline should not be submitted to ISAIM unless it introduces a significant addition to the previously published work. However, the ISAIM web site proceedings are not archival, so papers submitted to ISAIM can be under review at the time of submission and can be submitted elsewhere after ISAIM.

Authors of a selected set of papers from the Symposium will be invited to submit full versions of their papers for inclusion in a special volume of the Annals of Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence, published by Springer. Those invited submissions will be subject to refereeing at the usual standards of the journal, and authors will receive more details with the acceptance notice. Papers must of course be new and unpublished to be considered for the special volume.

Any questions regarding paper submission should be sent to the program committee chair at the email address <isaim2012 at cs DOT uic DOT edu>.

An important mission of WORLDCOMP is "Providing a unique platform for
a diverse community of constituents composed of scholars, researchers,
developers, educators, and practitioners. The Congress makes concerted
effort to reach out to participants affiliated with diverse entities
(such as: universities, institutions, corporations, government agencies,
and research centers/labs) from all over the world. The congress also
attempts to connect participants from institutions that have teaching as
their main mission with those who are affiliated with institutions that
have research as their main mission. The congress uses a quota system to
achieve its institution and geography diversity objectives."

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a spectrum of affiliated
research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into a coordinated
research meeting held in a common place at a common time. This model
facilitates communication among researchers in different fields of
computer science, computer engineering, and applied computing. The
Congress also encourages multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary
research initiatives; ie, facilitating increased opportunities for
cross-fertilization across sub-disciplines.

MEASURABLE SCIENTIFIC IMPACT OF WORLDCOMP:

As of November 23, 2011, papers published in WORLDCOMP set of proceedings
have received 15,860 citations. In recent months (March to November 2011),
there had been 1,475 citations to WORLDCOMP papers (about 164 citations per
month). The above record is significant (thanks to the authors). As the
result of high impact (based on citations) of WORLDCOMP papers, "Microsoft
Academic Search" has listed each individual track of the congress among its
compiled list of "Top Conferences". The citation record of WORLDCOMP set of
proceedings is in fact higher than the citation data of many reputable
journals in computer science and computer engineering. (The above citation
data does not include citations to WORLDCOMP papers published in 2011; thus,
it is highly probable that the actual number of citations is higher;
citation data was obtained from http://academic.research.microsoft.com/ )

We look forward to receiving your submission of your draft paper.

An important mission of
WORLDCOMP is "Providing a unique platform for
a diverse community of
constituents composed of scholars, researchers,
developers, educators, and
practitioners. The Congress makes concerted
effort to reach out to
participants affiliated with diverse entities
(such as: universities,
institutions, corporations, government agencies,
and research centers/labs)
from all over the world. The congress also
attempts to connect participants
from institutions that have teaching as
their main mission with those who are
affiliated with institutions that
have research as their main mission. The
congress uses a quota system to
achieve its institution and geography
diversity objectives."

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a
spectrum of affiliated
research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into a
coordinated
research meeting held in a common place at a common time. This
model
facilitates communication among researchers in different fields
of
computer science, computer engineering, and applied computing.
The
Congress also encourages multi-disciplinary and
inter-disciplinary
research initiatives; ie, facilitating increased
opportunities for
cross-fertilization across
sub-disciplines.

MEASURABLE SCIENTIFIC IMPACT OF WORLDCOMP:

As
of November 23, 2011, papers published in WORLDCOMP set of proceedings
have
received 15,860 citations. In recent months (March to November 2011),
there
had been 1,475 citations to WORLDCOMP papers (about 164 citations per
month).
The above record is significant (thanks to the authors). As the
result of
high impact (based on citations) of WORLDCOMP papers, "Microsoft
Academic
Search" has listed each individual track of the congress among its
compiled
list of "Top Conferences". The citation record of WORLDCOMP set

to the evaluation web site at: http://world-comp.org
Submissions must be uploaded by March
12, 2012 and they must be in
either MS doc or pdf formats (about 7 pages
including all figures,
tables, and references - single space, font size of 10
to 12). All
reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable (later, the authors
of
accepted papers will be asked to follow a particular typesetting
format
to prepare their final papers for publication.) Papers must not
have
been previously published or currently submitted for
publication
elsewhere. The first page of the paper should include: title of
the
paper, name, affiliation, postal address, and email address for
each
author. The first page should also identify the name of the Contact
Author
and a maximum of 5 topical keywords that would best represent the
content
of the paper. The name of the conference (ie, ICAI) that the paper
is
being submitted for consideration must be stated on the first page of
the
paper as well as a 100 to 150-word abstract. The length of the
final
Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be limited to 7 (two-column
IEEE

Each paper will be peer-reviewed by two experts in
the field for originality,
significance, clarity, impact, and soundness. In
cases of contradictory
recommendations, a member of the conference program
committee will be charged
to make the final decision (accept/reject); often,
this would involve seeking
help from additional referees by using a
double-blinded review process. In
addition, all papers whose authors include
a member of the conference program
committee will be evaluated using the
double-blinded review process.
(Essay/philosophical papers will not be
refereed but may be considered for
discussion/panels). Proceedings of ICAI
will be published and indexed in:
Inspec / IET / The Institute for

GENERAL
INFORMATION:

The ICAI 2012 conference is one of the premier research
conferences in
Artificial Intelligence. It is being held jointly (same
location and dates)
with a number of other research conferences (WORLDCOMP).
WORLDCOMP is the
largest annual gathering of researchers in computer science,
computer
engineering and applied computing. We anticipate to have 2,100 or
more
attendees from over 80 countries. WORLDCOMP 2012 will be composed
of
research presentations, keynote lectures, invited presentations,
tutorials,
panel discussions, and poster presentations. In recent past,
keynote/
tutorial/panel speakers have included: Prof. David A. Patterson
(pioneer,
architecture, U. of California, Berkeley), Dr. K. Eric Drexler
(known as
Father of Nanotechnology), Prof. John H. Holland (known as Father
of
Genetic Algorithms; U. of Michigan), Prof. Ian Foster (known as Father
of
Grid Computing; U. of Chicago & ANL), Prof. Ruzena Bajcsy (pioneer,
VR, U.
of California, Berkeley), Prof. Barry Vercoe (Founding member of
MIT
Media Lab, MIT), Dr. Jim Gettys (known as X-man, developer of X
Window
System, xhost; OLPC), Prof. John Koza (known as Father of
Genetic

Director,
U. of Michigan), Prof. Viktor K. Prasanna (pioneer, U. of
Southern
California), Dr. Jose L. Munoz (NSF Program Director and
Consultant),
Prof. Jun Liu (pioneer, Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard
U.),
Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh (Father of Fuzzy Logic), Dr. Firouz Naderi
(Head,
NASA Mars Exploration Program/2000-2005 and Associate Director,
Project
Formulation & Strategy, Jet Propulsion Lab, CalTech/NASA;
Director,
NASA's JPL Solar System Exploration), Prof. David Lorge Parnas
(Fellow
of IEEE, ACM, RSC, CAE, GI; Dr.h.c.: ETH Zurich, Prof.
Emeritus,
McMaster U. and U. of Limerick), Prof. Eugene H. Spafford
(Executive
Director, CERIAS and Professor, Purdue University), Dr.
Sandeep
Chatterjee (Vice President & Chief Technology Officer,
SourceTrace
Systems, Inc.), and many other distinguished speakers. To get a
feeling
about the conferences' atmosphere, see the 2010 delegates
photos
available at: www.pixagogo.com/1676934789

An important mission of
WORLDCOMP is "Providing a unique platform for
a diverse community of
constituents composed of scholars, researchers,
developers, educators, and
practitioners. The Congress makes concerted
effort to reach out to
participants affiliated with diverse entities
(such as: universities,
institutions, corporations, government agencies,
and research centers/labs)
from all over the world. The congress also
attempts to connect participants
from institutions that have teaching as
their main mission with those who are
affiliated with institutions that
have research as their main mission. The
congress uses a quota system to
achieve its institution and geography
diversity objectives."

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a
spectrum of affiliated
research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into a
coordinated
research meeting held in a common place at a common time. This
model
facilitates communication among researchers in different fields
of
computer science, computer engineering, and applied computing.
The
Congress also encourages multi-disciplinary and
inter-disciplinary
research initiatives; ie, facilitating increased
opportunities for
cross-fertilization across
sub-disciplines.

MEASURABLE SCIENTIFIC IMPACT OF WORLDCOMP:

As
of November 23, 2011, papers published in WORLDCOMP set of proceedings
have
received 15,860 citations. In recent months (March to November 2011),
there
had been 1,475 citations to WORLDCOMP papers (about 164 citations per
month).
The above record is significant (thanks to the authors). As the
result of
high impact (based on citations) of WORLDCOMP papers, "Microsoft
Academic
Search" has listed each individual track of the congress among its
compiled
list of "Top Conferences". The citation record of WORLDCOMP set
of
proceedings is in fact higher than the citation data of many
reputable
journals in computer science and computer engineering. (The above
citation
data does not include citations to WORLDCOMP papers published in
2011; thus,
it is highly probable that the actual number of citations is
higher;
citation data was obtained from http://academic.research.microsoft.com/ )

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:

Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers by uploading them
to the evaluation web site at: http://world-comp.org
Submissions must be uploaded by March 12, 2012 and they must be in
either MS doc or pdf formats (about 7 pages including all figures,
tables, and references - single space, font size of 10 to 12). All
reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable (later, the authors of
accepted papers will be asked to follow a particular typesetting format
to prepare their final papers for publication.) Papers must not have
been previously published or currently submitted for publication
elsewhere. The first page of the paper should include: title of the
paper, name, affiliation, postal address, and email address for each
author. The first page should also identify the name of the Contact Author
and a maximum of 5 topical keywords that would best represent the content
of the paper. The name of the conference (ie, ICAI) that the paper is
being submitted for consideration must be stated on the first page of the
paper as well as a 100 to 150-word abstract. The length of the final
Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be limited to 7 (two-column IEEE
style) pages.

Each paper will be peer-reviewed by two experts in the field for originality,
significance, clarity, impact, and soundness. In cases of contradictory
recommendations, a member of the conference program committee will be
charged to make the final decision (accept/reject); often, this would involve
seeking help from additional referees by using a double-blinded review
process. In addition, all papers whose authors include a member of the
conference program committee will be evaluated using the double-blinded
review process. (Essay/philosophical papers will not be refereed but may be
considered for discussion/panels).

Authors whose papers are accepted will be instructed to upload their papers
to a particular web site for publication - the uploaded papers to the
publication web site will only be checked for correct typesetting. At this
point, authors will be required to attest to the originality of their work
(ie, declaring that no part of the work is plagiarized and the paper does not
suffer from any acts of plagiarism.)

Proceedings of ICAI will be published in printed conference books (ISBN)
and will also be made available online. The proceedings will be indexed in
science citation databases that track citation frequency/data for each
published paper (science citation databases such as: Inspec / IET / The
Institute for Engineering & Technology; The French National Center for
Scientific Research, CNRS, INIST databases, PASCAL (covers the core scientific
literature in Science; about 90% of inclusions are journals; only about 9%
are proceedings; worldcomp tracks are selected to be among the 9% - accessable
from INIST, Datastar, Dialog, EBSCO, OVID, Questel.Orbit, Qwam, and STN
International); and others. Though, there is no guarantee that the proceedings
will also be included in EI Compendex/Elsevier indexings, in the past, the
track that ICAI belonged to was included in these databases. Therefore, we
will also be sending the proceedings for indexing procedures to EI
Compendex/Elsevier. The printed proceedings/books will be available for
distribution on site at the conference.

In addition to the publication of the proceedings, selected authors will be
invited to submit extended versions of their papers for publication in a
number of research books contracted with various publishers. These books
will be composed after the conference. Also, many chairs of tracks will
be forming journal special issues to be published after the conference.

SUBMISSION OF POSTER PAPERS:

Poster papers can be 2 pages long. Authors are to follow the same instructions
that appear above (see, SUBMISSION OF REGULAR PAPERS) except for the submission
is limited to 2 pages. On the first page, the author should state that "This
paper is being submitted as a poster". Poster papers (if accepted) will be
published if and only the author of the accepted paper wishes to do so.

>to the evaluation web site at: http://world-comp.org
>Submissions must be uploaded by April 12, 2012 and they must be in
>either MS doc or pdf formats (about 7 pages including all figures,
>tables, and references - single space, font size of 10 to 12). All
>reasonable typesetting formats are acceptable (later, the authors of
>accepted papers will be asked to follow a particular typesetting format
>to prepare their final papers for publication.) Papers must not have
>been previously published or currently submitted for publication
>
>
