I would actually think law enforcement would be even more hesitant to share details as bow the PI is too close to the situation.  He could actually now compromise the investigation.

My understanding of this stuation in Australia is that the homicide division would be under no obligation to share information due to operational priorities. All the best, Amber.

hi folks been awhile since i've checked in but i have a question.
during an investigation into a string of murders a private investigators' wife becomes one of the victims. now if the family of the victim, brother mother etc. would the homicide division be required to share whatever information with that private investigator?
thanks in advance.

He has never heard of it.  John actually is a very open individual.  He has a website where anyone can ask him questions.  Many of us on this website however have been discussing with him for decades (dear god I am OLD Russ!) profiling....he isn't coming for Christmas dinner and we are not on besties lists, however he is still one of the leaders in the business and highly respected...

The profiles showed marked improvement. Last I heard from Jack, Milo had not acted-out any of his fantasies and was no longer actively cultivating them. However, that was several years ago and, in the absence of active efforts to the contrary, old fantasies are prone to resurface.

Australia is 'suffering' at the moment with a string of deviant crimes within our military.

Is this happening in other countries? In yours? Do you hear of it much?
I am interested as I am working with the military as a consultant and am surprised at the level of media and political attention.

Hi Amber,

IMO, there has always been crime in the military, some very sophisticated criminal rings, some just run-of-the-mill criminals (murderers, rapists, thieves, batterers), some just for $ (drug rings, selling military equipment), some for more sinister reasons (spies).

this is very similar to a few cases that have come up recently in relation to children being 'imported' for house duties. Why are children like this slipping through the cracks? In Australia at least a child cannot register for work (paid) until they are 16 years old. Is it the same in the States? How come there is no query why she didn't attend school?

Actually I can vouch for the criminal element being in the military far more than civilians know.  Last year I retired from the Army, and have served in the Air Force as well.  As I have told my freinds who think the soldier in uniform is hot - just because he is in uniform doesn't make him a great catch.  See, there is a different viewpoint inside which makes certain crimes "forgiveable" in the eyes of the command and fellow soldiers, as long as there isn't a major stink made, or word doesn't leak out in the civilian world.

"Roughed up" your wife? Hey the dude just got back from a tour so cut him some slack.  (DV is RAMPANT in the military and basically hidden as much as possible.)

Had "rough sex?" She Loved it! You totally hit that and jacked her up! (Rape is a crime which, if the civilian or media do nto find out about, can actually be a badge of honor in certain circles - and not just in low level ones as well.  Two years ago we had a Luetenient Colonel busted down to private and dishonorably discharged.  SOunds great, right? There were over 6 high ranking officers repeatedly molesting, raping, and humilitaing three women in the unit - one of which ended up in the psych ward.)

That stupic private had it coming to him. Assualts are considered normal when in the ranks.  If you cry fowl, you are a wimp. You are supposed ot sit and take it, to prove you are not going to cry, you learned your lesson, and you weill be a greater soldier because of it.  Oh, and be expected to do the same on command.

Freindly Fire and fragging...happens more than you know, not reported as much as you think, and often times the dead victim is reported as "died in combat" or "Field training excersize" and move on...

I think it comes with the territory, however.  See, the military is a different way of life. Many do not understand the pressure most military are under.  Yet it is not an identifiable stressor really.  Imagine if you had to live a life where everyone expects you to conform to civilian life - but give you the ok to kill, discuss killing, supports violence, and enforces the fact strong is better, survival isparamount, and while you are away from family - well what goes TDY stays TDY (temporary duty yonder).  Now. You are still supposed ot pay bills on time, support your PTA, deal with family issues which are pretty trivial in the big scope of life, be romantic when required, a perfect lady or gentlman in public, and still maintain a bad ass appearance for your troops. I mean, which would you want ot be in a foxhole with bullets flying around, Tom Hanks or Bruce Willis?  A guy who talks down to you but can take out a tnak, or someone who wants to know if your feelings are hurt and thinks if he waves awhite flag you will be ok?

Reality is you cannot have alife of violence and alpha dog mentality without spill over. Do I think it is right for the crimes to be committed? NO.  LET ME SAY IT AGAIN. I DO NOT CONDONE THEM.  But I get why they are happening and where the mentality can come from.  Needless to say I am tired of the one line readers who then get all in my face about a sentence taken out of context and leaves the rest of the topic. Not here, mind youj, just been dealing with it in class wiht a professor ggrrrrrr....

Hi Amber,

IMO, there has always been crime in the military, some very sophisticated criminal rings, some just run-of-the-mill criminals (murderers, rapists, thieves, batterers), some just for $ (drug rings, selling military equipment), some for more sinister reasons (spies).

I am working with MPs here in NSW and have recently had a number of weeks with infantry and your description is not only correct, true and real but I suspect could not be any other way considering what is expected of them in theatre. I do not condone these behaviours however I cannot see how these soliders could successfully 'flick a switch' and go from CPL Smith front line infantry for 4-6 months and within the space of a week and a flight home he become Mr. Smith, husband, father, lover, provider and concern himself with blocked gutters, school fees and mowing the lawn...
Again, Dawn. I thank you for your candour. It has given me something to think about re my future work with the military.

Not guilty by mental defect is an extremely hard defense to prove. The fact she claimed a mental illness needs to address her NOT knowing right from wrong as society sees it at the time of the crime. For instance, if I were to feel the neighborhood grocer was planning something horrific, and I had to take him out first, I could still be charged with murder as I know it is not accpetable to take his life in the eyes of society.

Yes, she was depressed. No, she should NOT have had those children with her.  However she KNEW what she was doing was legally and societally wrong, ergo can be charged under the statute.  It is the same situation as Susan Smith, the woman who drowned her children in the tub.

A 12-year-old girl allegedly lured into a child prostitution ring was scared she'd get into trouble if she didn't have sex with a 55-year-old client, a court has heard.
Elia Toma, 55, appeared in Campbelltown Local Court on Friday charged with multiple child sex and prostitution offences.
Toma is one of four men, all aged in their 50s, charged with being customers of an alleged Sydney child prostitution ring run by two young sisters.
All of the accused are scheduled to appear in Sydney courts on Friday.
Police allege seven girls from vulnerable backgrounds aged between 12 and 16 were procured for the four men, and possibly other male customers, over a two-year period.
Police prosecutor Len Kerr said Toma was charged with being part of the alleged child prostitution ring and, if convicted, faced up to 20 years' jail.
Magistrate Robert Rabbidge said police were alleging that in one instance Toma met a 12-year-old girl on the street and she got into his car. He asked the girl how old she was and she told him she was 13.
Toma declined to have sex with her, but the girl expressed a fear that if she didn't, she would get in trouble with the woman who'd allegedly procured her.
Police allege that Toma told the girl she could either perform oral sex or masturbation on him, which she did for $10.
Toma immigrated from Iraq in 1980 and lives in Cabramatta, in Sydney's southwest, with his wife and two adult daughters, the court heard.
His wife and one his six sisters were in court on his behalf.
Toma's solicitor, John Young, applied for bail, noting that the charges were serious because they involved underage girls, but that his client had strong ties to the local community and was not a flight risk.
The magistrate said the alleged facts showed "an extremely powerful case" against Toma.
"I have grave concerns that a 55-year-old man would be preying on very young female children," Mr Rabbidge said in refusing Toma's bail application.
Bassam Darwich, 52, from Chester Hill, appeared briefly in the same court charged with five child sex and prostitution offences.
He did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.
His solicitor, Peter Proctor, said Darwich intended to plead not guilty to all charges.
The matters for both men are scheduled to come before the same court on July 18.

For those who have not read related posts, the Obama profile is compared to terrorist Osama, spy Hanssen and activist Pleasant. The link is below:

Barack Hussein Obama II:  The Content of His BRACE Character Profile (PDF download)

You might want to skip the long introduction and standard information and go to page 11. Start on page 13 for President Obama compared to terrorist Osama bin Laden, FBI spy Robert Philip Hanssen, and activist Mary Ellen Pleasant.

I still find it interesting,

Expect this group will grow now. Anyone else know of other similar boards?
