"What's New About New Methods of Software Development?" - Al Davis

Speaker:
Al Davis is professor in the College of Business at the University of
Colorado at Colorado Springs. He performs research in requirements
management, project management, and entrepreneurship. He teaches
courses in entrepreneurship, information systems, and business strategy.
He also serves as president of The Davis Company, a consulting company
dedicated to helping organizations define, build and/or acquire systems
that address real needs. He was a member of the board of directors of
Requisite, Inc., acquired by Rational Software Corporation in February
1997, and subsequently acquired by IBM in 2003. He has consulted for
many corporations over the past twenty-seven years, including Boeing,
British Telecom, Cadence Design Systems, Cigna Insurance, Federal
Express, Flight Dynamics, Fujitsu, General Electric, Great Plains
Software, IBM, Loral, MCI, Mitsubishi Electric, NEC, NTT, Rational
Software, Rockwell, Schlumberger, Sharp, Software Productivity
Consortium, Storage Tek, Sumitomo, and XAware.

"Jini - Not just for your toaster anymore" - Brian Pontarelli
Description:
This presentation covers all the basics of the Jini platform, which has
recently been transitioned from Sun to Apache. This presentation will
show how to construct a service based application using Jini as well as
how the Jini network is structured and deployed. In addition, a
demonstration of the cool Jini features such as dynamic discovery,
recovery and provisioning will be given.
Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops which will be able to
participate in the demonstration Jini network. JDK 1.5 is required
to run the demonstration application.
Speaker:
Brian Pontarelli is the founder of Inversoft, a Colorado based software
company, the director of technology at the Chicago based start-up Naymz,
and the founder of the Savant and Java.net commons open source projects.
In the past, he was the president of the Chicago Java User Group and an
enterprise architect for Orbitz.
Brian has been programming many years and works primarily with Java and
Ruby. He has published various articles in both print and online magazines
about Java, J2EE security, Java Server Faces and NIO.
