The new EASTERN SUBURBS PERMACULTURE GROUP (ESPG) started in November 2006. We're a keen bunch of permies with a shared desire to reduce our environmental footprint and benefit from sustainable practices. As befits our location in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne we have a particular interest in urban living and gardening, with elements for small spaces and backyards a large consideration.

No one needs much knowledge to join in or to come along. We're keen to swap ideas on what works, (and what doesn't!), share seedlings and harvests, pass on info on specials, buy in bulk for savings, arrange guest speakers, participate in field trips and visits and generally learn from and share our individual and collective knowledge with others to help build a sense of local community and support.

A local group such as Eastern Suburbs Permaculture is part of Permaculture Melbourne (PCM) which focuses on local activities.

Local group members can also participate in any other local group activities or events and will usually get a discount on items, training, events, fruit trees and straw. (Courtesy MDPG)

PERMACULTURE MELBOUNE INC. (PCM) is the umbrella group for many permaculture activities throughout Melbourne and other parts of Victoria as well as local permaculture groups. Permaculture Melbourne has a central reference library and it also produces “PIE” newsletter- (Permaculture Information Exchange) Each member gets a slice of “PIE” every 2 months and all events are listed in its calendar which ensures readers are informed of all Permaculture events around Victoria.
