Description
An unofficial Edge Virtual Bridging ad hoc group that is working to develop concepts and proposals related to Edge Virtual Bridging for consideration by the IEEE 802.1 working group. The proposal(s) are intended to address the following needs: (1) a simple aggregation capability that could be integrated into new NICs to support PCI virtual functions and PCIe IO virtualization devices, (2) to allow an external bridge control of vNIC connectivity, and (3) to support the creation of simplified, stand-alone network edge devices. The focus of this group is primarily oriented at the Data Center environment.
This group is open to all interested parties. We expect this group will include participation from manufacturers/developers of servers, switching equipment, switch components, network interface cards/components, hypervisors, operating systems, and data center management software.
The group activities and communication are coordinated through a weekly conference call. The weekly call information is as follows:
