Dear friends,

It is winter and the Hostas are sleeping. An ideal time to watch some
Hostapictures.
Today, I've find the time to give my website a new update. A lot of
seldom seen Hostaphotos are placed as there are : H.kiyosumiensis,
H.longipes f.sparsa, H.longipes ' Tenryu Nishiki '. H.Little Jay,
H.Concord, H.Lakeside Fruit Loops, H.Lakeside A Go Go, H.Lakeside
Hazy Morn, H.Little Red Rooster ( a new photoserie from my own
Hostahybrid ), and more.....
From most of this Hosta's you also can see detailphotos from the
leaf, petioles or flowers.
See also the photos from H.longipes var.latifolia ' Izu' in the '
Nieuws Flash ' .
This is not a commercial site. Just information that I want to share
with you.

Friendly regards,
Danny Van Eechaute

Dear Hostafriends,

This days you can't see no more Hostas in the garden, so I like to
show you some beautiful Hostas on your computer.
This week I did a great update on Hostacollectie. A large series of
photos from seldom seen Hostas ( H.Red Baron, H.Nobility, H.Stripper,
H.Maid Marian, H.Popcorn, and many more... ) are added.
Also a new updated edition from my collectionlist is published.
See http://www.hostacollectie.be ( under the button 'updates' )

I hope you like it.

Swinging on ropes of silver threads and snowflakes,
from the deep woods they come.
Listen for the tinkle of bells that fills
the air at Christmas time.

Gathering boughs of berries and pine,
bringing the scent of the woods.
They arrange their forest gifts
on the mantle for all to share.

The Christmas Fairy then flies into the tree
and finds her usual spot close to the top
of the upper most branch.

Once there, she glows,

and smiles down upon us,

filling our hearts with love

and wonderment.

May your Christmas be joyous.

Dear Hostafriends,

Last summer the international flower- and plant exposition "Pacific
Flora", took place in Hamamatsu (Japan). A lot of Hostas were on view
there (a.o. a lot of botanical species) which are unknown to us. A

Dear Michael,

Thanks for the reaction.
H.Amimi Tachi is not on the general market. This Hosta is also not
listed in the Hostafinder. Its very, very expansive Hosta. I Have
growing this Hosta ( I'm from Belgium ) see photos on from H.Amime
Tachi on my site under the button 'Collectie-lijst' A .

Well, my wife (who is the hostaculturist) sets them - I (a simple lawyer -
hobby webmaster) - simply follow her directions. They are grown for at least
one year - and usually two - in pots -. She plants them in the ground out of
pot in the winter - so they winter underground - then she replants them in
pots in the spring. I think it is a lot of work. She also is careful to
eliminate poor thrivers - so her stuff is usually very healthy - and grows
well.

We are new to the biz part of it - which likely explains any unusual prices
(up or down from normal/customary prices). If you spotted anything unusually
high - please let me know - so we don't look foolish - and if too low -
either let us know that too - or buy them up (either way we will come to
know the price was too low).

The pic part of the website is (hopefully) going to be a collection of hosta
pictures for all to view and envy (or chuckle). So, if you have any you want
to share - please feel free....

Thanks for responding.....

Hi Everyone,
I was at Steins today, and they are selling hostas 3 for 20 dollars for
small ones, and 3 for $23. for the bigger ones. The ones I bought there today,
are gold standard,medio-variegata-wavyhosta, golden tiara hybrid hosta, and fire
and ice.
Are these comon hostas that they were so cheap? I have seen hostas
advertised on the internet for $24 and up a piece.

Hi Sandra,
At Walmart hostas sell for $5.00 1gal. Grown in Holland ,look over the plants
real well virus-X (hvx) is from Holland also. These plants are a come on ,to
get you to buy other stuff, hoses , rake, grass seed, ect.... They sell them at
cost ,Whole sale prices, these big box stores are not Nursery , and no very
little about plants , so soport your local nursery person, that is what they
love, it will cost more but the plant will be health, and your nursery should
stand behind what they sell ,to you. IF not go to some one else.

Are these comon hostas that they were so cheap? I have seen hostas

either let us know that too - or buy them up (either way we will come to

The pic part of the website is (hopefully) going to be a collection of hosta

to share - please feel free....

Thanks for responding.....

Yes, those are very common hosta but, nevertheless, good ones (is there a bad
hosta). I live in Canada and have managed to find some of those ones as cheap
or cheaper. I have a collection of around 300 and the most expensive that I've
bought is around $30. You can, however, pay much more for specialty hostas. I
once saw one valued at three or four thousand on the internet. Can you imagine
if it died?

My two cents worth.

Hi everyone, thanks for the input. I am new to buying hostas, so am not sure
what ones are really common, since I don't see alot of these in my neighborhood.
And the ones that do have hostas, rather have the small all green one(dark
green),or the green with white trim. I don't see people around here with vierty
in the garden with the hostas or any other plants. I guess I am different than
the rest of my neighbors, where I like different color from the same plant.
I also found a iris at Steins garden center that has burgeny flowers on it.
So now I also have 3 colors of those in my garden. I also saw an iris with
silver leaves.Thought that was cool looking.
Wow, that sure is alot of types of hostas. Didn't know there were so many
types. I sure would like to see pictures. I live in an apartment, so I don't
have a real big space to plant. I am happy to be able to have at least 7
different types of hostas in my garden. I will send pictures as soon as I can.

Dear friends,

The new growseason has started, the Hostas have leafs again and I 've
started making pictures to put on the website.
This week I've placed the first series Hostaphotos of this season. Most
photos are taken from new introductions and seldom seen Hostas.(
H.Monument Circle, H.Gay Paree, H.Invincible Spirit, H.Spring Circle,

What does that one look like? I would really like to see a picture of it. I am
new to hostas also, and have 7 different kinds in my garden right now.
