It's time once again to gather at the COLLABORATE 10 conference in Las Vegas!
The conference is scheduled from April 18th through the 22nd at the Mandalay Bay

When content is "Done", everything else that needs to be done with the
content has been accomplished except indexing.

First things to check/try:

* Is the Automatic Indexing Cycle enabled in Repository Manager?

* Is the Indexer hung up, or in an errored state?

*         Can you in initiate a re-index?

Best regards,

Chris

Plus one more obscure possibility is the Release Date may be in the future,
if this is only on some documents.

Hello,

Sorry if this is Super Basic, but I cant find anything in the docs to give me
confirmation of what I am seeing. Basically we have some Custom DB Tables that
we setup to Replicate to our other enviroments and the behavior we are seeing is
that Archiver dosent move the changed records in those tables instead it moves
all the tables and all the data in those tables. This is not an issue just very
interesting and I wanted to know if any of you could confirm that this is
expected behavior and if there was a way to only move changed records similar to
how content is handeled?

Thank you...
Brett.

Hi Don:

Thanks for the pointers.
This works great for "metadata" update only.
But, we want a new revision after the update.
This VB macro only updates the metadata and can not create
or "force" a check-in of existing contents.

Regerds,

Gautam

In theory, if your database tables use the standard "last modified" timestamp
column, then Archiver will only move over the "changed" records. You can add
those by adding your table to the list of known "schema" tables (config manager,
"tables" tab).... and then clicking "add selected." Of course, this means you'll
need to modify your code to make sure that you add this timestamp any time you
update the record.

I haven't testing this... but in theory it should work

Chris,
This used to work a week ago.
It would add new files to the index.

On the other hand, rebuilding index from scratch always hangs for me
after a while.
Any other solutions?
Thanks

Subject: Ordering by / optizing a 'memo' type metadata field
stellentchic...
Send Email Send Email

Hi everyone,

I'm recoding an existing stellent/verity web search to work under Oracle UCM
10gr3 and OracleText.

With my existing search, I can order search results by a custom metadata field
of type 'memo'. However this no longer seems to work under 10gr3/OracleText.

I found a component that allows me to order search results by custom fields in
OracleText. Part of the configuration is to optimize the metadata fields you
want to order search results by on the 'administration -> text search admin'
page. However I've noticed that 'memo' type fields are not shown in the list of
fields that can be optimized.

Is anyone able to confirm whether memo fields can be optimized, and if not, if
there is another way of allowing search results to be ordered by a field that is
of type 'memo'?

Cheers : )

Hi Brian,

Thank you very much for the reply. Unfortunately we are not able to send the
user credentials to UCM. Is there any other way to mimic the sysadmin as
approval user. Even developing custom service is OK with us.

Thanks,

Hi all,

I have a question...

Is it possible to create a custom metadata field, based on the results of a
SEARCH_RESULTS service??

If it is, how can i do it??

What i want is to have a combo, displaying the results of a SEARCH_RESULTS
service and after the user chooses, just save the text in the field.

Thanks in advance,

Hi all,

This is probably an easy question...I'm trying to modify how the dDocType and
dDocAccount fields behave on check in / update screens.

dDocType needs to be set to null initially to force the user to select a type.
Currently it defaults to the first item in the list.

dDocAccount is displaying as an Edit and Select List field but I want to change
it to Select List Validated.

normally I would just make the changes in the Information Fields tab in
ConfigMan but since these are system fields based on views, they're not
accessible there.

Thanks,
Jonas

Wait... you want to save the ENTIRE search results in a metadata field, or you
want to save the URL to that search results page?

The latter is easy, and partly built-in with the personalization rules (my saved
searches, etc.). The former is kind of an unusual request... what's the ultimate
goal?

Dear Chris,

Indexer usually hangs if I have to rebuild index.
But it was adding files to index and releasing documents
up until last week.

Automatic Indexing Cycle is enabled in Repository Manager.

Indexer is in an errored state, but would release files and add content to index
up until last week.

As you said, I suspect there may be a problem with Automatic Indexing Cycle...

Any ideas...

Hi Bex,

I have some contents in folders, and with that i want to publish these contents
to a Folio ( with java code )...

I need to create a metadata field to target the folio where the content must
go....

The main goal is:

Create a folder, map a folio to that folder, and when users drop contents on
that folder ( using WebDav ) there's something that takes the all contents of
that folder to the desired Folio....

My thought was create a Metadata field ( only displayed in folders using rules )
where administrators could map the desired Folios.

Thanks in advance,

Nuno Pestana

Hi All,

I am in the same team with Belal.

Is there a way to manually index those documents that are in 'Done' status?

We try to start the 'Indexer' as follows:

i. Open 'Repository Manager'
ii. Click 'Indexer' tab
iii. There are two sections here: Automatic Update Cycle & Collection Rebuild
Cycle. Which one clears the docs in 'done' state?

Once, we start 'Automatic Update Cycle', it hangs after a while by giving an
error message as below:

Info 02/03/2010 10:34 Restarting rebuild of the search index.
Error 02/03/2010 10:34 Indexing aborted. Unable to delete
d:/intradoc3/search/update/changes.txt.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Thx,

Subject: Changing Password of the Content Server affects SSPU
robidouxus
Send Email Send Email

Hi,

We have a need to change the sysadmin password of the content server
(Version:10.1.3.4.1). I know how do this via the profile page so that isn't a
problem.

However, once I change the password to the content server, I must also change
the password that the SSPU (Master) uses to login to the content server to grab
the website manifest. So one would think that if I change that password to the
"new" content server password, the SSPU would be happy. Well, it doesn't seem to
be that easy. When I attempt this I get the following error when the SSPU tries
to crawl the website:

replicator ERROR Job Failed :error retrieving site manifest

I attempted to restart the SSPU (Master) instance, thinking that would clear out
the "old" password, but that didn't do anything.

If I change the content server password back to the 'old' password, but I leave
the password that the SSPU uses to login to the content server website as the
"new" password...it works! So that means that the 'old' password must be hanging
around somewhere.

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Thanks!
John

Have you enabled any tracing on the indexer to see what errors are being put
into the logs?

Go to Administration > System Audit Information, Tracing Sections Information
group, and add "indexer", "indexermonitor", and "indexerprocess" to the list,
enable Full Verbose Tracing, and see if anything appears in the logs from the
Indexer.

You might also add the following lines to your config.cfg:

#Server Output Debug to bin/IdcServerNT.log

UseRedirectedOutput=true

This will dump your Server Output to a text file that you can hyperanalyze.
That's where much of the tracing information goes.

Best regards,

Chris

Hi all,

Is there any way to center text in a word doc and have the Dynamic converter
respect what I want?

Currently, what we have to do is add ghosted characters as white on white text
to get the effect.

For example,
-----------------------------Hello There

and then set the color of the -'s to white

We are having a hard time with getting our users to except this as a way of
centering text.

We have also tried tables but have had a lot of problems with borders and
width's

Any help would be great

Bex, if your monitoring, your help would be good as I think you tried to set
this up while you were here?

Thanks

J

DC isn't picking this up as centered text when you do so through normal
centering means? The ghost characters is a bad idea, and I understand
your users' reluctance to use it. It's a throwback to the typewriter
days. We shouldn't have to do that any more J

I suspect there is something with your template that is overriding this
functionality.

As a test, run your source document manually through the OutsideIn
converter and see what the output looks like.

Presuming you're using Windows, navigate to
<install_dir>\<instance_name>\shared\os\win32\lib\contentaccess. Inside
this directory, you'll see a Windows application called "export.exe".
Run that application, choose HTML as the conversion, then select your
source document, and provide an output document path. Then click
"Export". The output HTML should open up in a browser, and I'm betting
that the formatting is as it should be. I just ran a test with a sample
MSWord document with left, center, right, and full justified text, and
everything worked as expected.

This is the same engine that Dynamic Converter is using, so if it works
there, then there's something in between it and your document that is
changing the way the output is formatted.

This takes me waaaaay back to my Publisher days when getting your
formatting correct was waaaaay too much fun not to share the pain with
your co-workers J

Best regards,
Chris

Hi Deniz,
Changes.txt file contains the DID of the content being indexed. If a content is
indexed then it gets deleted by itself else it is left there containing the DID
of the content stuck in indexer.
There are a couple of ways for solving this:
1. Get the content id from the info in changes.txt, archive out the content and
delete the file manually. Kick the indexer manually and keep an eye on
changes.txt. Once all the contents are indexed, import the file back in CMS.
2. Restart the indexing server.
Second option does works sometimes.

Unable to delete d:/intradoc3/
search/update/ changes.txt.

Any help on this will be appreciated.

Thx,

-Deniz

Those aren't indexer errors. That tells you that the content server can't start
because there's already a content server running on that port. All content
server communications occur on port 4444 by default unless they're configured
differently upon installation.

We see below:

Info 02/03/2010 11:18 Starting the service 'Idc Content Service UNPAN'.
Error 02/03/2010 11:18 Unable to start the providers for 'Idc Content Service
UNPAN'. Unable to start the system provider 'SystemServerSocket'. Could not
listen on port 4444. Address already in use: JVM_Bind
Fatal 02/03/2010 11:18 Failed to initialize the server. Unable to start the
system provider 'SystemServerSocket'. Could not listen on port 4444. Address

Does anyone know what is port 4444 used for?

That's where much of the tracing information goes.

Fatal 02/03/2010 11:18 Failed to initialize the server. Unable to start the

Does anyone know what is port 4444 used for?
