in your case sealed will be much better because you don't have the area for ported. ported takes much more air space... it's more then putting holes in a box....

Sounds like it is clipping. Try turning the gains down while it is playing to see if it stops. Have you changed anything in the configuration? Have you checked...
Check to make sure your grounded good using the same size wire as your power wire. Have you changed the radio recently... You might have a wire backwards...
