XMLmind XML Editor v4.9 (April 18, 2011):

Several enhancements, most of them related to validation and to link
navigation.

This release is in fact the low-level part of forthcoming version 5,
that's why some important changes are not yet visible

Liquid XML Editor 2011 now features an advanced xslt debugger and an xslt editor
with validation, supporting xslt 1.0 and 2.0.
For xslt 1.0 transforms it using the Microsoft .net engine. For XSLT 1.0 and 2.0

  0. TOPIC GUIDELINES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
xml-doc is for discussion of XML/SGML and document authoring,
particularly authoring of documentation for computer software
and hardware. Topics for which list members have a specific
     interest include:

       * XML editing applications
       * Single-sourcing for multiple audiences/delivery formats
       * XML-based content management systems
       * DocBook and other document-oriented markup vocabularies
       * Converting legacy documents
       * Organizational strategies for structured authoring
       * Document analysis and markup model design/refinement
       * Transitioning from older (e.g. FrameMaker) environments
       * Publishing (transforming and delivering XML content)

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  1. ACCESSING THE XML-DOC WEB SITE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
As a member of the xml-doc mailing list, you also have access
     to the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

To use some features of the Web site, you also need to
choose a username and password and register with Yahoo Groups.

  2. POSTING AND REPLYING TO MESSAGES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
To send a message to all the members of the mailing list,
     e-mail it to:

       xml-doc@yahoogroups.com

To post a message via the Web, visit:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/post/xml-doc/

By default, when you reply to a message, the reply is sent to
all members of the list. If you want to reply just to the
author of a posted message, please specify only the author's
e-mail address in the "To:" field in your reply.

Here are a few general tips for posting and replying to
messages delivered to online mailing lists:

     a. Use meaningful subject lines.

Try not to use generic, uninformative subject lines such as
"Easy question," "Help needed," "Urgent," and so on.
Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly
make sense to the people whose help you are trying to get.

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's
entire message unless it's really necessary. Instead,
quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or
quote only enough to establish a context for your reply.

     c. Avoid idiomatic and colloquial English.

Be sensitive to the fact that a significant number of
subscribers to any English-language online mailing list are
non-native speakers of English. By avoiding idiomatic and
colloquial language, you ensure that your message will have
a higher degree of international readability.

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  3. READING MESSAGES VIA THE WEB AND ACCESSING THE MESSAGE ARCHIVE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
All messages posted to the list are simultaneously posted to
xml-doc website and are immediately available at:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/messages/xml-doc/

All messages are also automatically archived. To search
the archive, use the search box on the message page. To browse
the archive by month, visit the xml-doc main page:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

  4. UNSUBSCRIBING, RECEIVING DIGESTS, AND PUTTING MAIL ON HOLD
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
You can unsubscribe at any time by e-mailing a message to

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if
you plan to read messages by accessing the archive at the
xml-doc Web site or if you want to stop your xml-doc e-mail
while you are on a vacation), send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To switch back from the "digest" or "no mail" settings to the
"normal" setting, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-normal@yahoogroups.com

You can also change your delivery settings from the xml-doc
     Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/xml-doc/

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
other members of the list, upload it directly to the file
sharing area of the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/files/xml-doc/

All interested members can then access or download the file at
     their convenience.

  6. RECEIVING FURTHER HELP
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
If you have questions about the list itself and need to have
them answered by a real person, send them to:

       xml-doc-owner@yahoogroups.com

  Regards,

  Michael Smith
  xml-doc moderator and list owner

..................................................................

  A. PRIVACY POLICY
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
The xml-doc list moderator has a complete list of e-mail
addresses for all xml-doc subscribers, but will not provide
any subscriber e-mail addresses or personal information to any
third party, at any time, for any purpose. Yahoo Groups itself
     has a separate privacy policy:

       http://privacy.yahoo.com/

Read their policy carefully and make sure it is acceptable to
you. If it's not, you should unsubscribe from the list.

  B. NO-SPAM NOTICE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Please don't post messages to xml-doc that are not related
directly to XML/SGML and document authoring. Specific types of
messages that are inappropriate on the list include:

     * Product or service announcements that have an excessive
       amount of unobjective marketing hype

     * Any "for sale" announcements; for example, if you have used
computer equipment or software you're trying to re-sell, or a
domain name you want to unload, posting an announcement to
xml-doc is not an appropriate way to try to find a buyer

You should also read the the Yahoo Terms of Service document,
which contains information about their policy toward spam, along
     with other things.

       http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

  C. NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT, TROLLS, AND FLAMES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Before posting or replying to a message, please remember this
list's stated purpose -- as outlined in the TOPIC GUIDELINES --
and show consideration for the fact that there are subscribers on
the list from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, and
that many people aren't going to be nearly as interested as you
might be in any particular discussion that drifts away from the
topic guidelines, no matter how important/relevant you may
personally believe the particular topic drift to be.

     [0] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/topic-drift.html

xml-doc is a relatively low-noise list, and relatively free
     from trolls[1] and flames[2] and flame bait[3].

     [1] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/troll.html
     [2] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame.html
     [3] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame-bait.html

To help keep the noise level down, don't fan the flames, and
avoid feeding the trolls if/when they appear (a much better
strategy is simply to ignore them).

  D. CHANGELOG
  -----------------------------------------------------------------

     2003-06-02 <smith@...>

v4.5 (June 3, 2011): Highlights:

   * Images are now represented by DrawingML elements
     in OOXML (.docx) files.

   * When the heuristics used by XFC are insufficient
to infer the type of a list, it's now possible to
explicitly specify this type by adding an
     xfc:label-format proprietary attribute to
     the fo:list-block.

   * Added support for scale-down-to-fit and scale-up-to-fit.

  0. TOPIC GUIDELINES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
xml-doc is for discussion of XML/SGML and document authoring,
particularly authoring of documentation for computer software
and hardware. Topics for which list members have a specific
     interest include:

       * XML editing applications
       * Single-sourcing for multiple audiences/delivery formats
       * XML-based content management systems
       * DocBook and other document-oriented markup vocabularies
       * Converting legacy documents
       * Organizational strategies for structured authoring
       * Document analysis and markup model design/refinement
       * Transitioning from older (e.g. FrameMaker) environments
       * Publishing (transforming and delivering XML content)

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  1. ACCESSING THE XML-DOC WEB SITE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
As a member of the xml-doc mailing list, you also have access
     to the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

To use some features of the Web site, you also need to
choose a username and password and register with Yahoo Groups.

  2. POSTING AND REPLYING TO MESSAGES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
To send a message to all the members of the mailing list,
     e-mail it to:

       xml-doc@yahoogroups.com

To post a message via the Web, visit:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/post/xml-doc/

By default, when you reply to a message, the reply is sent to
all members of the list. If you want to reply just to the
author of a posted message, please specify only the author's
e-mail address in the "To:" field in your reply.

Here are a few general tips for posting and replying to
messages delivered to online mailing lists:

     a. Use meaningful subject lines.

Try not to use generic, uninformative subject lines such as
"Easy question," "Help needed," "Urgent," and so on.
Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly
make sense to the people whose help you are trying to get.

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's
entire message unless it's really necessary. Instead,
quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or
quote only enough to establish a context for your reply.

     c. Avoid idiomatic and colloquial English.

Be sensitive to the fact that a significant number of
subscribers to any English-language online mailing list are
non-native speakers of English. By avoiding idiomatic and
colloquial language, you ensure that your message will have
a higher degree of international readability.

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  3. READING MESSAGES VIA THE WEB AND ACCESSING THE MESSAGE ARCHIVE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
All messages posted to the list are simultaneously posted to
xml-doc website and are immediately available at:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/messages/xml-doc/

All messages are also automatically archived. To search
the archive, use the search box on the message page. To browse
the archive by month, visit the xml-doc main page:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

  4. UNSUBSCRIBING, RECEIVING DIGESTS, AND PUTTING MAIL ON HOLD
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
You can unsubscribe at any time by e-mailing a message to

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if
you plan to read messages by accessing the archive at the
xml-doc Web site or if you want to stop your xml-doc e-mail
while you are on a vacation), send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To switch back from the "digest" or "no mail" settings to the
"normal" setting, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-normal@yahoogroups.com

You can also change your delivery settings from the xml-doc
     Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/xml-doc/

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
other members of the list, upload it directly to the file
sharing area of the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/files/xml-doc/

All interested members can then access or download the file at
     their convenience.

  6. RECEIVING FURTHER HELP
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
If you have questions about the list itself and need to have
them answered by a real person, send them to:

       xml-doc-owner@yahoogroups.com

  Regards,

  Michael Smith
  xml-doc moderator and list owner

..................................................................

  A. PRIVACY POLICY
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
The xml-doc list moderator has a complete list of e-mail
addresses for all xml-doc subscribers, but will not provide
any subscriber e-mail addresses or personal information to any
third party, at any time, for any purpose. Yahoo Groups itself
     has a separate privacy policy:

       http://privacy.yahoo.com/

Read their policy carefully and make sure it is acceptable to
you. If it's not, you should unsubscribe from the list.

  B. NO-SPAM NOTICE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Please don't post messages to xml-doc that are not related
directly to XML/SGML and document authoring. Specific types of
messages that are inappropriate on the list include:

     * Product or service announcements that have an excessive
       amount of unobjective marketing hype

     * Any "for sale" announcements; for example, if you have used
computer equipment or software you're trying to re-sell, or a
domain name you want to unload, posting an announcement to
xml-doc is not an appropriate way to try to find a buyer

You should also read the the Yahoo Terms of Service document,
which contains information about their policy toward spam, along
     with other things.

       http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

  C. NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT, TROLLS, AND FLAMES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Before posting or replying to a message, please remember this
list's stated purpose -- as outlined in the TOPIC GUIDELINES --
and show consideration for the fact that there are subscribers on
the list from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, and
that many people aren't going to be nearly as interested as you
might be in any particular discussion that drifts away from the
topic guidelines, no matter how important/relevant you may
personally believe the particular topic drift to be.

     [0] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/topic-drift.html

xml-doc is a relatively low-noise list, and relatively free

Subject: REMINDER: Free Webinar: Spread DITA Throughout Your Organization with DITAToo
andylewis2003
Send Email Send Email

DITA helps you improve content reuse and single-sourcing publishing techniques.
However, DITA also brings new challenges, including locating content from among
thousands of individual topics, maintaining link integrity, tracking content
reuse, and publishing to multiple formats. Furthermore, members of content
creation centers that could benefit from reusing content created by technical
writers such as sales, marketing, and customer support, are unlikely to want to
learn DITA or to switch to new tools.

Join us for this free webinar and see how DITAToo (http://www.ditatoo.com), the
DITA automation tool from iG5 Authoring Tools
(http://www.ig5authoringtools.com), can free your content for use by your entire
organization. For technical writers using DITA, DITAToo automates many everyday
tasks. For everybody else (for example, proposal writers, the marketing team,
and customer support representatives), DITAToo enables the reuse and publication
of existing content without the need to know anything about DITA.

You'll learn how DITAToo helps you to:
• Quickly find content you need from among thousands of DITA topics
• Avoid broken links even if you extensively move, rename, and delete files
• Arrange topics into deliverables without a DITA editor and without knowing
anything about DITA
• Let non-technical writers access the content repository, pick up content they
need, and publish it
• Track content reuse and always know where each topic is used
• Manage content variations
• Publish to a wide variety of output formats and apply custom templates
and much more

The webinar lasts one hour and takes place at the following times:
• Wednesday July 13 at 07.00 PDT (West coast USA)/10.00 EDT (East coast
USA)/15.00 BST (UK)/17.00 IST (Israel)
• Wednesday July 20 at 10.00 PDT (West coast USA)/13.00 EDT (East coast
USA)/18.00 BST (UK)/20.00 IST (Israel)

To register, please fill out the registration form via one of the links below:
For July 13: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/516987734.
For July 20: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/536071182

Looking forward to meeting you online!

  0. TOPIC GUIDELINES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
xml-doc is for discussion of XML/SGML and document authoring,
particularly authoring of documentation for computer software
and hardware. Topics for which list members have a specific
     interest include:

       * XML editing applications
       * Single-sourcing for multiple audiences/delivery formats
       * XML-based content management systems
       * DocBook and other document-oriented markup vocabularies
       * Converting legacy documents
       * Organizational strategies for structured authoring
       * Document analysis and markup model design/refinement
       * Transitioning from older (e.g. FrameMaker) environments
       * Publishing (transforming and delivering XML content)

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  1. ACCESSING THE XML-DOC WEB SITE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
As a member of the xml-doc mailing list, you also have access
     to the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

To use some features of the Web site, you also need to
choose a username and password and register with Yahoo Groups.

  2. POSTING AND REPLYING TO MESSAGES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
To send a message to all the members of the mailing list,
     e-mail it to:

       xml-doc@yahoogroups.com

To post a message via the Web, visit:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/post/xml-doc/

By default, when you reply to a message, the reply is sent to
all members of the list. If you want to reply just to the
author of a posted message, please specify only the author's
e-mail address in the "To:" field in your reply.

Here are a few general tips for posting and replying to
messages delivered to online mailing lists:

     a. Use meaningful subject lines.

Try not to use generic, uninformative subject lines such as
"Easy question," "Help needed," "Urgent," and so on.
Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly
make sense to the people whose help you are trying to get.

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's
entire message unless it's really necessary. Instead,
quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or
quote only enough to establish a context for your reply.

     c. Avoid idiomatic and colloquial English.

Be sensitive to the fact that a significant number of
subscribers to any English-language online mailing list are
non-native speakers of English. By avoiding idiomatic and
colloquial language, you ensure that your message will have
a higher degree of international readability.

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  3. READING MESSAGES VIA THE WEB AND ACCESSING THE MESSAGE ARCHIVE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
All messages posted to the list are simultaneously posted to
xml-doc website and are immediately available at:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/messages/xml-doc/

All messages are also automatically archived. To search
the archive, use the search box on the message page. To browse
the archive by month, visit the xml-doc main page:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

  4. UNSUBSCRIBING, RECEIVING DIGESTS, AND PUTTING MAIL ON HOLD
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
You can unsubscribe at any time by e-mailing a message to

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if
you plan to read messages by accessing the archive at the
xml-doc Web site or if you want to stop your xml-doc e-mail
while you are on a vacation), send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To switch back from the "digest" or "no mail" settings to the
"normal" setting, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-normal@yahoogroups.com

You can also change your delivery settings from the xml-doc
     Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/xml-doc/

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
other members of the list, upload it directly to the file
sharing area of the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/files/xml-doc/

All interested members can then access or download the file at
     their convenience.

  6. RECEIVING FURTHER HELP
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
If you have questions about the list itself and need to have
them answered by a real person, send them to:

       xml-doc-owner@yahoogroups.com

  Regards,

  Michael Smith
  xml-doc moderator and list owner

..................................................................

  A. PRIVACY POLICY
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
The xml-doc list moderator has a complete list of e-mail
addresses for all xml-doc subscribers, but will not provide
any subscriber e-mail addresses or personal information to any
third party, at any time, for any purpose. Yahoo Groups itself
     has a separate privacy policy:

       http://privacy.yahoo.com/

Read their policy carefully and make sure it is acceptable to
you. If it's not, you should unsubscribe from the list.

  B. NO-SPAM NOTICE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Please don't post messages to xml-doc that are not related
directly to XML/SGML and document authoring. Specific types of
messages that are inappropriate on the list include:

     * Product or service announcements that have an excessive
       amount of unobjective marketing hype

     * Any "for sale" announcements; for example, if you have used
computer equipment or software you're trying to re-sell, or a
domain name you want to unload, posting an announcement to
xml-doc is not an appropriate way to try to find a buyer

You should also read the the Yahoo Terms of Service document,
which contains information about their policy toward spam, along
     with other things.

       http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

  C. NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT, TROLLS, AND FLAMES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Before posting or replying to a message, please remember this
list's stated purpose -- as outlined in the TOPIC GUIDELINES --
and show consideration for the fact that there are subscribers on
the list from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, and
that many people aren't going to be nearly as interested as you
might be in any particular discussion that drifts away from the
topic guidelines, no matter how important/relevant you may
personally believe the particular topic drift to be.

     [0] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/topic-drift.html

xml-doc is a relatively low-noise list, and relatively free
     from trolls[1] and flames[2] and flame bait[3].

     [3] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame-bait.html

To help keep the noise level down, don't fan the flames, and
avoid feeding the trolls if/when they appear (a much better
strategy is simply to ignore them).

(The above form is usually accessed through

      _____________________________________________

XMLmind XML Editor v5 aims to be a good tool for authoring
highly modular documents: DITA maps, today's DocBook modular
books and tomorrow's DocBook 5.1 assemblies, Web sites comprising
a large number of XHTML pages, etc.

In order to attain this goal, we have added 3 new interactive tools
to XXE:

    * the "Browse Files" tool,
    * the "Search Files" tool,
    * the "Document Set" tool.

These new tools are showcased in "XMLmind XML Editor v5 Primer"
(which includes a 3:30 screencast). Moreover, the "Document Set"
tool has a lesson of its own in our tutorial.

XMLmind XML Editor v5 is deemed to be as reliable and more
featureful than v4.9.x. Moreover, the 3 new interactive tools
are lightweight and absolutely not intrusive.
All in all, we recommend all XXE users to upgrade to v5.

Subject: Announce: Online video lectures covering XSLT/XPath 1.0 and 2.0 (Free five-hour introductory preview)
g_ken_holman
Send Email Send Email

Crane Softwrights Ltd. is pleased to announce the online, reliable
cloud-based availability of its XSLT/XPath DVD-ROM video training
product on Udemy "The Academy of You" for access from any web
browser: http://ude.my/t37DVX Note you do not have to create an
account in order to watch the five hours of free content of the
video; you only have to create an account in order to buy the paid
content of the video.

"Practical Transformation Using XSLT and XPath" is over 24 hours of
the instructor lectures, with hands-on exercises and solutions, of
our intensive five-day training class.

The introduction/overview is free, the first two modules are free,
the introduction of every other module is free, and the annexes are
free: a total of 311 minutes of free preview content! This is, in
effect, a free video lecture introduction to XSLT/XPath for any
beginner. You only create an account and pay if you want access to
the other 19 hours of comprehensive and in-depth lecture and to the
hands-on exercises and solutions.

Please use the following abbreviated link and share the link as
broadly as you wish (especially if you are a development manager or a
member of a team of developers or a user group or industry mail list
or a vendor of a product that incorporates XSLT or XPath; note first
at the bottom all of the lists to which I'm already posting this announcement):

http://ude.my/t37DVX (it helps me not to use the longer direct link)

This class overviews the entire scope of the Extensible Stylesheet
Language Transformations (XSLT) 1.0 http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt, XSLT
2.0 http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt20, the XML Path Language (XPath) 1.0
http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath and XPath 2.0 http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath20
W3C Recommendations, used for transforming structured information
(e.g. XML to XML, XML to HTML, XML to XSL-FO, XML to text, etc.). The
objectives of the course are to understand the role and utility of
the Recommendations, to overview all the constructs of the
Recommendations (this five-day delivery covers every element, every
attribute, and every function), to design and develop XSLT scripts,
and to efficiently navigate the available documentation and
resources. The relationship of XSLT to XSL is explained, though
details of XSL Formatting Object semantics are not included.

Paid subscription grants perpetual access to the Udemy delivery of
all of the material associated with this class. Return to it at any
time! They are responsible for maintaining the access and up-time to
the material.

This material is also available as on-site instructor-led training,
in addition to all our other syllabi, for delivery worldwide by the
instructor or through branded licensing to training
organizations. See
http://www.CraneSoftwrights.com/training/pastsch.htm#ptux for a
history and http://www.CraneSoftwrights.com/schedule.htm#summary for
a list of syllabi.

I just discovered http://udemy.com last week and it was very
straightforward to mount and publish my video training content
recorded three and a half years ago.

Please contact me off list for more information.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

  0. TOPIC GUIDELINES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
xml-doc is for discussion of XML/SGML and document authoring,
particularly authoring of documentation for computer software
and hardware. Topics for which list members have a specific
     interest include:

       * XML editing applications
       * Single-sourcing for multiple audiences/delivery formats
       * XML-based content management systems
       * DocBook and other document-oriented markup vocabularies
       * Converting legacy documents
       * Organizational strategies for structured authoring
       * Document analysis and markup model design/refinement
       * Transitioning from older (e.g. FrameMaker) environments
       * Publishing (transforming and delivering XML content)

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  1. ACCESSING THE XML-DOC WEB SITE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
As a member of the xml-doc mailing list, you also have access
     to the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

To use some features of the Web site, you also need to
choose a username and password and register with Yahoo Groups.

  2. POSTING AND REPLYING TO MESSAGES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
To send a message to all the members of the mailing list,
     e-mail it to:

       xml-doc@yahoogroups.com

To post a message via the Web, visit:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/post/xml-doc/

By default, when you reply to a message, the reply is sent to
all members of the list. If you want to reply just to the
author of a posted message, please specify only the author's
e-mail address in the "To:" field in your reply.

Here are a few general tips for posting and replying to
messages delivered to online mailing lists:

     a. Use meaningful subject lines.

Try not to use generic, uninformative subject lines such as
"Easy question," "Help needed," "Urgent," and so on.
Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly
make sense to the people whose help you are trying to get.

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's
entire message unless it's really necessary. Instead,
quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or
quote only enough to establish a context for your reply.

     c. Avoid idiomatic and colloquial English.

Be sensitive to the fact that a significant number of
subscribers to any English-language online mailing list are
non-native speakers of English. By avoiding idiomatic and
colloquial language, you ensure that your message will have
a higher degree of international readability.

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  3. READING MESSAGES VIA THE WEB AND ACCESSING THE MESSAGE ARCHIVE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
All messages posted to the list are simultaneously posted to
xml-doc website and are immediately available at:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/messages/xml-doc/

All messages are also automatically archived. To search
the archive, use the search box on the message page. To browse
the archive by month, visit the xml-doc main page:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

  4. UNSUBSCRIBING, RECEIVING DIGESTS, AND PUTTING MAIL ON HOLD
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
You can unsubscribe at any time by e-mailing a message to

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if
you plan to read messages by accessing the archive at the
xml-doc Web site or if you want to stop your xml-doc e-mail
while you are on a vacation), send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To switch back from the "digest" or "no mail" settings to the
"normal" setting, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-normal@yahoogroups.com

You can also change your delivery settings from the xml-doc
     Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/xml-doc/

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
other members of the list, upload it directly to the file
sharing area of the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/files/xml-doc/

All interested members can then access or download the file at
     their convenience.

  6. RECEIVING FURTHER HELP
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
If you have questions about the list itself and need to have
them answered by a real person, send them to:

       xml-doc-owner@yahoogroups.com

  Regards,

  Michael Smith
  xml-doc moderator and list owner

..................................................................

  A. PRIVACY POLICY
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
The xml-doc list moderator has a complete list of e-mail
addresses for all xml-doc subscribers, but will not provide
any subscriber e-mail addresses or personal information to any
third party, at any time, for any purpose. Yahoo Groups itself
     has a separate privacy policy:

       http://privacy.yahoo.com/

Read their policy carefully and make sure it is acceptable to
you. If it's not, you should unsubscribe from the list.

  B. NO-SPAM NOTICE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Please don't post messages to xml-doc that are not related
directly to XML/SGML and document authoring. Specific types of
messages that are inappropriate on the list include:

     * Product or service announcements that have an excessive
       amount of unobjective marketing hype

     * Any "for sale" announcements; for example, if you have used
computer equipment or software you're trying to re-sell, or a
domain name you want to unload, posting an announcement to
xml-doc is not an appropriate way to try to find a buyer

You should also read the the Yahoo Terms of Service document,
which contains information about their policy toward spam, along
     with other things.

       http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

  C. NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT, TROLLS, AND FLAMES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Before posting or replying to a message, please remember this
list's stated purpose -- as outlined in the TOPIC GUIDELINES --
and show consideration for the fact that there are subscribers on
the list from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, and
that many people aren't going to be nearly as interested as you
might be in any particular discussion that drifts away from the
topic guidelines, no matter how important/relevant you may
personally believe the particular topic drift to be.

     [0] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/topic-drift.html

xml-doc is a relatively low-noise list, and relatively free
     from trolls[1] and flames[2] and flame bait[3].

     [1] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/troll.html
     [2] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame.html
     [3] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame-bait.html

To help keep the noise level down, don't fan the flames, and
avoid feeding the trolls if/when they appear (a much better
strategy is simply to ignore them).

Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's

quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if

  0. TOPIC GUIDELINES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
xml-doc is for discussion of XML/SGML and document authoring,
particularly authoring of documentation for computer software
and hardware. Topics for which list members have a specific
     interest include:

       * XML editing applications
       * Single-sourcing for multiple audiences/delivery formats
       * XML-based content management systems
       * DocBook and other document-oriented markup vocabularies
       * Converting legacy documents
       * Organizational strategies for structured authoring
       * Document analysis and markup model design/refinement
       * Transitioning from older (e.g. FrameMaker) environments
       * Publishing (transforming and delivering XML content)

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  1. ACCESSING THE XML-DOC WEB SITE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
As a member of the xml-doc mailing list, you also have access
     to the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

To use some features of the Web site, you also need to
choose a username and password and register with Yahoo Groups.

  2. POSTING AND REPLYING TO MESSAGES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
To send a message to all the members of the mailing list,
     e-mail it to:

       xml-doc@yahoogroups.com

To post a message via the Web, visit:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/post/xml-doc/

By default, when you reply to a message, the reply is sent to
all members of the list. If you want to reply just to the
author of a posted message, please specify only the author's
e-mail address in the "To:" field in your reply.

Here are a few general tips for posting and replying to
messages delivered to online mailing lists:

     a. Use meaningful subject lines.

Try not to use generic, uninformative subject lines such as
"Easy question," "Help needed," "Urgent," and so on.
Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly
make sense to the people whose help you are trying to get.

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's
entire message unless it's really necessary. Instead,
quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or
quote only enough to establish a context for your reply.

     c. Avoid idiomatic and colloquial English.

Be sensitive to the fact that a significant number of
subscribers to any English-language online mailing list are
non-native speakers of English. By avoiding idiomatic and
colloquial language, you ensure that your message will have
a higher degree of international readability.

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  3. READING MESSAGES VIA THE WEB AND ACCESSING THE MESSAGE ARCHIVE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
All messages posted to the list are simultaneously posted to
xml-doc website and are immediately available at:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/messages/xml-doc/

All messages are also automatically archived. To search
the archive, use the search box on the message page. To browse
the archive by month, visit the xml-doc main page:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

  4. UNSUBSCRIBING, RECEIVING DIGESTS, AND PUTTING MAIL ON HOLD
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
You can unsubscribe at any time by e-mailing a message to

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if
you plan to read messages by accessing the archive at the
xml-doc Web site or if you want to stop your xml-doc e-mail
while you are on a vacation), send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To switch back from the "digest" or "no mail" settings to the
"normal" setting, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-normal@yahoogroups.com

You can also change your delivery settings from the xml-doc
     Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/xml-doc/

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
other members of the list, upload it directly to the file
sharing area of the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/files/xml-doc/

All interested members can then access or download the file at
     their convenience.

  6. RECEIVING FURTHER HELP
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
If you have questions about the list itself and need to have
them answered by a real person, send them to:

       xml-doc-owner@yahoogroups.com

  Regards,

  Michael Smith
  xml-doc moderator and list owner

..................................................................

  A. PRIVACY POLICY
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
The xml-doc list moderator has a complete list of e-mail
addresses for all xml-doc subscribers, but will not provide
any subscriber e-mail addresses or personal information to any
third party, at any time, for any purpose. Yahoo Groups itself
     has a separate privacy policy:

       http://privacy.yahoo.com/

Read their policy carefully and make sure it is acceptable to
you. If it's not, you should unsubscribe from the list.

  B. NO-SPAM NOTICE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Please don't post messages to xml-doc that are not related
directly to XML/SGML and document authoring. Specific types of
messages that are inappropriate on the list include:

     * Product or service announcements that have an excessive
       amount of unobjective marketing hype

     * Any "for sale" announcements; for example, if you have used
computer equipment or software you're trying to re-sell, or a
domain name you want to unload, posting an announcement to
xml-doc is not an appropriate way to try to find a buyer

You should also read the the Yahoo Terms of Service document,
which contains information about their policy toward spam, along
     with other things.

       http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

  C. NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT, TROLLS, AND FLAMES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Before posting or replying to a message, please remember this
list's stated purpose -- as outlined in the TOPIC GUIDELINES --
and show consideration for the fact that there are subscribers on
the list from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, and
that many people aren't going to be nearly as interested as you
might be in any particular discussion that drifts away from the
topic guidelines, no matter how important/relevant you may
personally believe the particular topic drift to be.

     [0] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/topic-drift.html

xml-doc is a relatively low-noise list, and relatively free
     from trolls[1] and flames[2] and flame bait[3].

     [1] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/troll.html
     [2] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame.html
     [3] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame-bait.html

To help keep the noise level down, don't fan the flames, and
avoid feeding the trolls if/when they appear (a much better
strategy is simply to ignore them).

  0. TOPIC GUIDELINES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
xml-doc is for discussion of XML/SGML and document authoring,
particularly authoring of documentation for computer software
and hardware. Topics for which list members have a specific
     interest include:

       * XML editing applications
       * Single-sourcing for multiple audiences/delivery formats
       * XML-based content management systems
       * DocBook and other document-oriented markup vocabularies
       * Converting legacy documents
       * Organizational strategies for structured authoring
       * Document analysis and markup model design/refinement
       * Transitioning from older (e.g. FrameMaker) environments
       * Publishing (transforming and delivering XML content)

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  1. ACCESSING THE XML-DOC WEB SITE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
As a member of the xml-doc mailing list, you also have access
     to the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

To use some features of the Web site, you also need to
choose a username and password and register with Yahoo Groups.

  2. POSTING AND REPLYING TO MESSAGES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
To send a message to all the members of the mailing list,
     e-mail it to:

       xml-doc@yahoogroups.com

To post a message via the Web, visit:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/post/xml-doc/

By default, when you reply to a message, the reply is sent to
all members of the list. If you want to reply just to the
author of a posted message, please specify only the author's
e-mail address in the "To:" field in your reply.

Here are a few general tips for posting and replying to
messages delivered to online mailing lists:

     a. Use meaningful subject lines.

Try not to use generic, uninformative subject lines such as
"Easy question," "Help needed," "Urgent," and so on.
Instead, use meaningful subject lines that will quickly
make sense to the people whose help you are trying to get.

     b. Quote only relevant parts of messages when replying.

When replying to a message, please don't quote the author's
entire message unless it's really necessary. Instead,
quote just the parts to which you are directly replying, or
quote only enough to establish a context for your reply.

     c. Avoid idiomatic and colloquial English.

Be sensitive to the fact that a significant number of
subscribers to any English-language online mailing list are
non-native speakers of English. By avoiding idiomatic and
colloquial language, you ensure that your message will have
a higher degree of international readability.

Please also take a moment to read the NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT,
TROLLS, AND FLAMES at the end of this message.

  3. READING MESSAGES VIA THE WEB AND ACCESSING THE MESSAGE ARCHIVE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
All messages posted to the list are simultaneously posted to
xml-doc website and are immediately available at:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/messages/xml-doc/

All messages are also automatically archived. To search
the archive, use the search box on the message page. To browse
the archive by month, visit the xml-doc main page:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/group/xml-doc/

  4. UNSUBSCRIBING, RECEIVING DIGESTS, AND PUTTING MAIL ON HOLD
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
You can unsubscribe at any time by e-mailing a message to

       xml-doc-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

To specify that you want to receive a digest of messages once
a day instead of receiving messages one at a time as they are
posted, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-digest@yahoogroups.com

To remain a list member, but receive no mail (for example, if
you plan to read messages by accessing the archive at the
xml-doc Web site or if you want to stop your xml-doc e-mail
while you are on a vacation), send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-nomail@yahoogroups.com

To switch back from the "digest" or "no mail" settings to the
"normal" setting, send a blank e-mail message to:

       xml-doc-normal@yahoogroups.com

You can also change your delivery settings from the xml-doc
     Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/subscribe/xml-doc/

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
other members of the list, upload it directly to the file
sharing area of the xml-doc Web site:

       http://groups.yahoo.com/files/xml-doc/

All interested members can then access or download the file at
     their convenience.

  6. RECEIVING FURTHER HELP
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
If you have questions about the list itself and need to have
them answered by a real person, send them to:

       xml-doc-owner@yahoogroups.com

  Regards,

  Michael Smith
  xml-doc moderator and list owner

..................................................................

  A. PRIVACY POLICY
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
The xml-doc list moderator has a complete list of e-mail
addresses for all xml-doc subscribers, but will not provide
any subscriber e-mail addresses or personal information to any
third party, at any time, for any purpose. Yahoo Groups itself
     has a separate privacy policy:

       http://privacy.yahoo.com/

Read their policy carefully and make sure it is acceptable to
you. If it's not, you should unsubscribe from the list.

  B. NO-SPAM NOTICE
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Please don't post messages to xml-doc that are not related
directly to XML/SGML and document authoring. Specific types of
messages that are inappropriate on the list include:

     * Product or service announcements that have an excessive
       amount of unobjective marketing hype

     * Any "for sale" announcements; for example, if you have used
computer equipment or software you're trying to re-sell, or a
domain name you want to unload, posting an announcement to
xml-doc is not an appropriate way to try to find a buyer

You should also read the the Yahoo Terms of Service document,
which contains information about their policy toward spam, along
     with other things.

       http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/

  C. NOTE ON TOPIC DRIFT, TROLLS, AND FLAMES
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Before posting or replying to a message, please remember this
list's stated purpose -- as outlined in the TOPIC GUIDELINES --
and show consideration for the fact that there are subscribers on
the list from a wide variety of professional backgrounds, and
that many people aren't going to be nearly as interested as you
might be in any particular discussion that drifts away from the
topic guidelines, no matter how important/relevant you may
personally believe the particular topic drift to be.

     [0] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/topic-drift.html

xml-doc is a relatively low-noise list, and relatively free
     from trolls[1] and flames[2] and flame bait[3].

     [1] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/T/troll.html
     [2] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame.html
     [3] http://www.catb.org/~esr/jargon/html/F/flame-bait.html

To help keep the noise level down, don't fan the flames, and
avoid feeding the trolls if/when they appear (a much better
strategy is simply to ignore them).

all members of the list.

  5. DEALING WITH E-MAIL ATTACHMENTS
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Any files that members attach to a message are stripped out
before the message is distributed to the list; you cannot send
or receive attachments via the list.

If you have a file you would like to make available to the
